Job for tomorrow...hopefully

I have always liked those 'inspirational words' like dream, and inspire and I have 'create'. I bought it in it's raw stage and have only just bought the paint to make it match my colour scheme ;)
When we moved into the new place I had a definite idea about colour schemes and furniture. Still working at it but I'm hoping that this will inspire me to 'create'
Hope to get it finished tomorrow...will let you know ;)

I can see a rainbow...

Well the time has come to begin preparations for my daughters "Rainbow" birthday party.

I am having a great time trying to figure out what will work well with the theme she has suggested. Everything I choose I run by her because Little Miss has a very definite idea about how things should look but she isn't against a little nudge in the 'right' direction.

Invitations are first...but we have already purchased the piñata and a few of the party bag gifts, as well as the party bags! In the coming weeks I'll keep you all up to date on the preparations...let the fun begin ;o)

C'mon horsey!

Melbourne Cup Day, what does it mean to you?

To me it means donning a wonderful (or quite nice) hat and spending the day with friends, talking and laughing and of course BBQ-ing. That is until the race...then you all hunch around a telly and yell at your horse to pick up the pace ;o) Then you all sit back down and doll out the cash that was won and chat some more...

We had a wonderful day...how about you?

Time...

It passes by so quick, to quote Ferris Bueller : Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
I've been pretty ill for a while so I have missed a chunk of it recently but (hopefully) I am back on the road to recovery and ready to get back into it :o)
So as my first step back into "IT" here is a pic of my chair that sits proudly in my study...the chair itself was a donation from my husbands aunt, and after visiting the Cristina Re shop "Where a Girl Goes" and seeing the magnificent "Peacock Backed chair" I decided to have a go at making my own version.
So after gassing myself by spraying the chair white with 3 cans of spray (it had to be super white) I waited the allotted time for it to dry and added the cushions I had made previously with my new khd logo!
I think it looks pretty spiffy and I added extra stuffing to the red cushion so it is also quite comfy ;o)

Well that's it...hope to post again soon...byee

So exciting!

one of the scrummy 'baby' cupcakes that they have for sale at the WAGG shop.

Well it's over for now but I will always live in hope that Cristina Re's "Where a girl goes" will have another HUGE sale!
When I arrived the little office area was packed with feral women, scavenging through the 'old stock' consisting of, envelopes, invitations, transparency's, paper and last season's chrissy cards! But a bargain was to be had and I grabbed 100 sheets of candy coloured striped paper for $10 and packs of transparency's 10 sheets for $3! They were even selling her 'artwork' of her paper designs for $100!! If I'd had the cash I would have bought the cherry blossom one but alas, cash was tight and paper was more appealing ;o)
While I was happily browsing the goodies I looked up and there was Ms. Re herself!!! Now to a normal person she is just that, a normal person...to me she is an inspiration and a quiet idol. She is living my dream...I have always looked to her for inspiration on how to pursue, one of my many dreams ;o)
Anyway after I had collected my booty I wandered next door to the 'WAGG' shop! I felt slightly stalkery when I saw Cristina sitting with a woman chatting. I did however pull one of the nerdiest things ever and ask the girl serving if she thought after her 'meeting' would she be totally freaked out if I asked for a photo? She laughed and said she didn't think she'd mind. So I waited (like a stalker) but my nerve was waining as was my parking time and I had to leave. As I went to leave she got up grabbed her purse (a lovely little silver number) and walked out with her 'meeting'.
So my near brush with 'an inspiration' was short lived but I still got a thrill out of being near Ms Cristina Re :o)

Busy busy busy...

It's been a while since my last post, not that I haven't been busy ;o) I am hoping to do the Hawthorn Market soon, and I am busily making list pads, purse pads, note pads and journals with matching pens. I have also taken a liking to bracelets...I used to make jewellery years ago and have recently gotten back into it since my mother-in-law asked if I could make a few (I made 20+) to take OS as gifts. It was fun so I am having a play ;o)

new card...

It's a friends birthday on the weekend and I thought "I know...I'll make a card!

I had been slack in my card makingness of late so I sat down and made one...it's a bit on the different side but I think it's a bit of fun too...pics to follow but here are a few obscure ones...can you guess? ;o)

I made it to Meet Me At Mikes...

Thought I'd peruse the MMAM blog and what do I spy....down the bottom of one pic is my 'picnic' envelope!! You can't see it too well but above "me" is a little yellow envelope with 2 sandwiches and 2 ants...I guess I'm back baby! ;o)

New Logo launch...

Here it is, the grand unveiling...

I have been playing around with this for quite some time and I have finally come up something I am very happy with.

Since moving and having to redo the study I settled on Red/Black and White. I bought Red/Black/White boxes and even our Ikea shelving is white...I decided I loved the colours so much why not transfer them to a new logo!

As I have said I have a love affair with Japanese paper and especially the cherry blossom "Sakura"...so I decided to smoosh all my 'loves' together and came up with this ;o)

I love it so much I designed a cushion using the blossom...but that's for another post ;o)

Did it have to be so scary..?

Just to post off craft topic for a moment...I would like to discuss Toy Story 3. If you have not seen it then I suggest you either look away or if you enjoy spoilers go for it ;o)

Now I have loved the Toy Story Franchise since it began but really...what went wrong with TS3? I get it was made for those of us that have grown up with Buzz, Woody and the gang but c'mon! The cymbal bashing monkey that watched the monitors...he scared the life out of me when he 'sounded the alarm' The Lazy eyed baby made me feel terribly uncomfortable, I have never liked those dolls that have the open/close eyes...when they go wrong ;o) And the pizza bread Potato head!!! That was gross!!!

Now don't get me wrong...there were the odd funny moments....mainly the Spanish speaking Buzz and Ken was so funny and delightful he almost stole the show...but I struggle to remember much more. The scary moments stick with me more than any 'happy' moments...yes I did cry when the toys held hands and awaited their destiny and the odd tear was shed when Andy passed his toys on to the 'next generation' but parents should have been made aware that there are extreme scary scenes for kids.

In the cinema I attended, kids were crying...and parents were having to take them out of the cinema! I wanted to see it first before I took my 4 year old to see if it was suitable....NO WAY!!!! Granted our daughter does suffer from frequent nightmares and I was not going to add to her repertoire with family favourites. She won't even watch the original TS with Sid the toy mashing delinquent...he scares her...so imagine if he scares her how on earth would she handle the psycho cymbal bashing monkey with the the freaky poking out eyes *shudder*....

Anyway...this was all brought on by a post on FB about how much people enjoyed TS3, all adults. Yes I will add to their enormous profit margin by purchasing the DVD but I will not let my daughter watch it...for quite some time!! Here endeth the rant ;o)

Meet Me At Mikes...

In my journey to get back in the swing of things I decided to join in on the "Envelope Project".

This will explain it better than I can ;o)

I knew I wanted to use some gingham stickers I had lying about for absolute years but what to do with them....Alyssa had the answer...."They look like a picnic mummy" So the idea was born...I covered the envelope front with gingham stickers, 'made' a couple of sandwiches and used a balloon hole punch to create ant bodies...what's a picnic with out ants ;o)

Hopefully it makes it in one piece... :o)

It has begun...

I guess I have just, to quote Obi Wan, "taken my first step into a larger world"

It's been a long time coming, many things have happened but I finally started my blog! If you are reading this I guess you know :oP

My reason for this...to keep my thoughts straight, let people know what I am up to, and to get my new "brand" out in the wold...more on that later but I look forward to sharing my journey with you...
